Hyderabad, November 26: Calling BJP and TRS fascist parties, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has accused Modi and KCR Government of destroying all the democratic institutions in the country and State.
Addressing the Meet the Press programme organised by Telangana State Union of Working Journalist (TUWJ) at Basheerbagh Press Club on Monday, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the BJP and TRS regimes would be remembered in history for smothering democracy and all sections of the society including media. He pointed out several instances wherein KCR Government had suppressed and intimidated media. He assured that the next government of People’s Front would ensure Freedom of Press and provide required protection and assistance to journalists.
Reacting to the ‘suitcase’ remarks made by caretaker K. Chandrashekhar Rao, he said that the ‘suitcase culture’ prevailed in the TRS Government. He went on record to allege that the KCR family took 6% commission from the contractors of Mission Bhagiratha and Mission Kakatiya.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said KCR has no stature to speak anything on UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi. He said Telangana became a reality only due to Sonia Gandhi. He said Sonia Gandhi preferred Telangana State over facing extinction in residuary Andhra Pradesh only to keep her words. Calling KCR as a ‘characterless fellow’, he said that the TRS chief was trying to hit headlines by criticising Sonia Gandhi whose life was full of sacrifices for the country.
The TPCC Chief said that the defeat of TRS in next elections was certain and after the declaration of results KCR will be confined to his farm house while his son KTR would flee to USA. He said even KCR himself has realised that he was going to face a humiliating defeat. He reminded that KCR, while addressing a press conference on September 6 after dissolution of Assembly, had claimed that TRS would win 80 seats and the alliance of opposition parties would not have any impact on his fortunes. However, KCR lost senses after Congress, TDP, TJS and CPI formed People’s Front. He said KCR has almost conceded his defeat and therefore, he has started talking about retirement and sanyas.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the KCR went back on the promise of making a Dalit CM. Similarly, he did not fulfill other promises like 12% reservation for Muslims and STs. Likewise, other promises like three acres of land for Dalits or double bedroom houses for poor were not fulfilled. He said of nearly one crore households in the State, not even one lakh got promised tapped drinking water supply through Mission Bhagiratha. He said KCR had announced in Assembly that TRS would not seek votes if it fails to provide tapped water supply to all households. Why KCR is not honouring this promise? he asked.
The TPCC Chief said KCR had no courage to fight with BJP Government at the Centre and Prime Minister Narender Modi on non-fulfillment of promises made in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act. He said KCR did nothing to get a steel plant at Bayyaram, Railway Coach Factory at Qazipet or Tribal University.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said KCR’s entire life was full of lies and deception. “While I was defending the country as a fighter pilot of Indian Air Force on China and Pakistan border, KCR was duping people by running a fake passport and visa racket. KCR was held by Delhi police in a fake visa case. Therefore, he has no stature to speak anything on my personal life,” he said.
He also alleged that KCR was the most corrupt Chief Minister among 29 States in the country. “KCR, KTR and his family members have looted the public wealth and now trying to use it to win next elections,” he alleged.
Uttam Kumar Reddy also ridiculed KCR’s contention that Telangana would face energy crisis if People’s Front comes to power. Calling it as Gobble’s propaganda, he said Telangana was among 27 out of 29 States which became power surplus due to the power projects started during previous Congress regime. He said that not a single unit of power has been produced by the projects started by TRS regime. Just by switching on those projects, KCR is trying to get credit for achievements of Congress party, he said.
He said that caretaker Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao has cheated the journalists on allotment of plots by misleading them on a case going on in the Supreme Court. He said that the case pertained to the allotment of land in Nanakramguda and the courts never imposed any restrictions on allotment of land to journalists. He said previous Congress regimes have distributed land among journalist on three occasions. Therefore, he promised that the next government of People’s Front would allot land to journalists, from State to mandal, level.
